Benched

It might sound like an excuse but…oh wells *shrugs*πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

I actually drafted this post on the day of the event. But the owner of this fat fingers accidentally ‘select all’ > ‘delete’ this post *smacks head*. I was 95% done with the draft, so, can you imagine my disappointment?

If not, let me tell you, it took me three weeks later to re-type this. Bahahaha.

Three weekend ago, was a long Saturday for me, I started with sending Broski to the airport for his Hajj, followed by can’t remember going where, then played Badminton with Momski.

and this post…is the story of playing Badminton.

My dad’s an excellent Badminton player.

When I was a child, I remember going to the Town Council – where the Badminton court is – with my elder brother, cause there’s always something that my dad will forget to bring.

When he’s nice, he’ll let me seat at the back of the bicycle and cycle us there. Or, when he’s not feeling thaaaaat generous, he’ll cycle slowly while I walk… or skip. Hehe.

While the adults were in their own world at the court, my brother and I would take dad’s extra racquet and we’d play with each other for five minutes? Before my brother give up on me and chase me away for being untalented. Bahahaha. Clearly, patience runs in the family 😝.

We’d put our racquets away and he’ll either play hisΒ Chapteh or his soccer ball if he brought it along while his younger sister, me, would run around the backstage or just…dance on the stage. Bahahaha. *smacks head*Β πŸ’ƒ

I guess we started young.

In school, my brother played rugby, floorball and God knows whatever sports involving balls. For me, I was a dancer and cheerleader. Yup, wipe that tea that you just spit out of your mouth. HAHAHAHA. It’s true.

The very first time that I played Badminton with Momski, I started the game by serving the shuttlecock to her end, only to swing the air. That woman was so caught off guard that she fell to the floor while laughing.

How encouraging.Β She thought sportsmanship could be inherited genetically.πŸ˜’πŸ™„πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ

But, with time, my motor skills got better. *flips racquet* I still can’t serve the shuttlecock bottom up but, one day, I’ll get there yall. 🀘

The first session I had this year, was three weeks ago, with her colleagues, who were waaaay older than me.

I paired up with the ace of the court, Mr Lim… Cause that way, he’ll get proper workout (BAHAHAHAHA) and we’d win – thanks to him of course. Not gonna be shameless and take the credit here.

Sincere apologies to Mrs Lim for splitting the couple. You guy’s would be undefeatable and that’d be no fun now would it.

After few rounds, more players turned up and well, I got benched. So yeah, GO MR AND MRS LIM!!!Β πŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺ

Sigh…

One day, like what is said on the racquet, I’ll be a Champion.

Your hair might already turn grey when that day comes, but, it will come. Giving up is not in my blood. Bahahaha.

As we all know, after working out, we need the right food and rest for our body.

Nothing…

a Kaya + Peanut Butter waffles can’t fix πŸ€€πŸ˜‹.

Oh, and also

some Fruit Tart.. y’know, to balance the diet. πŸ˜ˆπŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ

When the day that your hair has turn grey, and I still suck, it’s okay. Sometimes some things are just not meant to be.

I’ll just put on some other shoe (literally) and be useful elsewhere.

Be careful of what you wish for

The studio that I’m placed at now, doesn’t have windows. Only few glass emergency exit doors.

Which means, only few chosen ones get to have that Vitamin D supply on a daily basis.

Of course, I’m not one of them. πŸ˜‚.

Yesterday however, due to some rush in a big project, some of us were pulled over to help.

This one, of course, yours truly got selected. πŸ’

It was at the newer studio with nice open concept, lots of natural sunlight, so of course, this opportunist was more than happy to drag her desktop from one end of the mall to the other end.

I chose the vacant seat riiiight at the back and riiiighhhhhtt at the end. #maximisingoportunity.

It’s really not helping to see the iconic durian building when you’re craving for durian. πŸ™ˆ But luckily, it was facing my back.

It was nice tho, to experience something new. I could get use to this…

But of course, it’ll be so much nicer if only I didn’t have to stay back till 3am…on a Friday.

Like I said… It was a new studio which I’m not familiar with… Cant even find my way out. Bahahahaha.

Another long day out with friends today. Let’s hope I can last till night!

Have a good weekend errbadeh 😘

Raya Eve: My neighbourhood is better than yours

Last Eid, I had no fun story to tell.

I was just in England from the start of Ramadhan till the end of Syawal. With 19 hours of fast daily, trust me, the most exciting part of the day for me is that I get to pray Asr even at 9pm.

Here? No chance guys. 9pm in Singapore = Witr prayers already. BAHAHAHAHA.

Anywho,Β alhamdulillah, this year, I got to fast in 4 cities –

Home (Singapore).

Dubai.

The city which took care of me for 2 years.

London, and last but not least…

Pareeeeeee! (Paris) before heading back to SG.

5 cities, Oops!

But! That’s not the point of this post… The last time I was home for Eid was 2015. While I was wondering what happened that year, my blogpost reminded me. This was what I did for Eid 2015.

When I read again, I just went, OMGGGG….. How much bimbotic can I get? Haha. Was fun though.

But this year’s Eid eve has been different.

I started the day with going for a site walk which I forced myself to sign up. Cause last week, someone wasted one of her two weekend day by waking up at half past 5.Β πŸ˜±πŸ˜‚Β #gonecase that day. >.<

The site is non other than Singapore’s pioneer “community centre” – The ‘Our Tampines Hub’ aka Tampines Town Hub.

My cousins have been telling me how big this new hub is and how impressed they are by this place. I also have some colleagues who don’t even live in this estate that have swung by this place. Of course, then there’s me. Who can’t even find my way there. Tsk.

So! Since such a wonderful opportunity came up, I better grab this chance.

Not to mention, I love site walks. You get to discuss the practical architecture. What was initially designed, why it happened and why some parts aren’t successful. Basically, what goes behind something.

Phase 3 out of 4, will be officially open next week, I think, but, since most of my lovely readers are not in Singapore, I guess, I’ll just share it here!Β πŸ˜ƒ

As we were walking around the building, let’s just say, I’ve never felt proud to callΒ Tampines, my estate.

I mean, how often do you have

Bracing game strong.

FIFA comply soccer field with 5000 seating capacity, like, 5-8 minutes drive away from your place? I mean, I know I don’t kick no balls, but I can start? (maybe, HAHA.)

Nice VIP Lounge btw. Digging the new and shiny sofa and lamp.

See, this is what I mean by behind the scenes pictures. They’re so much more meaningful than the polished and finished end product!

Does your estate also provide you with a place where you can run

What a view guys.

Around the building, internally, at rooftop level?

705m too?

Look at these houses… I bet they smell money. Hahahaha. The boom in property price here is gonna be no joke yall.

20 Badminton courts!

Tennis courts.

Gonna pause here for a bit.

See those girls in blue uniform? Those were my Primary School uniform. I was so excited to see them but when I saw the logo of their uniform – which was not my Primary School – it left me a little upset. Hahahaha.

It so happened that they had a Table Tennis competition that day with athletes from China, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Thailand. The last logo you see right at the extreme left on that glass balustrade….. is the flag that supports wheelchair bound athletes.

I was MIND.BLOWN. We even saw them at the back competing. Twas very heartwarming.

We also have rooftop garden which allows community to grow crops.

When I heard this, I just went Β ‘Β uhuh. Let’s see how long this can lastΒ ‘at the back of my mind. I mean, growing crop in this country? Any idea what climate we’re living in? Effort sounds moot tbh.

As if she could read my mind, the architect went, ‘ You would’ve think that, how long and successful this community project can be like, right? Planting food. But …. actually it is pretty successful. Last week, one of the stakeholder actually gave me a bag ofΒ KangKong that was planted here.’

Keep impressing me guys. I’m loving this place more.

Next, is my FAAAVOURITE PART!

The….

Pool! I love pools. I love water. 😍😘

This is the Jacuzzi. The glistening water on a sunny fasting morning.

Had to hold myself back from jumping in one of the many pools. #mustbedecent

8 lane adult pool with Barrier Free Access (BFA). Basically wheelchair bound people, can easily access this pool.

😍😍😍😍😍😍😍

Kids pool and wading pool.

and last but not least,

Indoor competition pool. There’s two of it actually. One further at the back.

Lower seats for people involved and upper seat for spectators.

Rain or shine, feel free to compete here!

Breakout space. Cause we Singaporeans love breakout space.

And of course, if you talk about Tampines Town Hub… You can’t miss out mentioning

Festive Plaza. This hugee porous space for events. Since its Ramadhan, the monthly bazaar that’s usually held outside the train station is moved to here. To be honest, it’s so much more nicer, and cleaner.Β πŸ‘

Of course I missed it. Only made it there last day of Ramadhan 😝. But I’ll be back fo sho. So many Halal food place here.

The atrium is pretty big that our basic question was, ‘How do you keep this atrium fire compartmented?’ Cause we don’t see any sprinklers running across.

Ehem *clears throat* allow me to share with you the answer. It’s interesting.

Instead of the conventional sprinkled system, this building uses, ah, crap can’t remember what it’s called. Either ‘Smoke Monitor System’ or ‘Water Monitor System’. Should be the former, I think. What happens with this system is that it uses laser and scan for smoke from this metal panel on its opposite end.

If you refer to the picture above, you’ll see a small square box on the black strip near the highest floor’s escalator.

When it detects any smoke, from fire, it’ll send a signal to the water cannon, and the water cannon will move to the designated affected area and immediate shoot out water directly to the fire.

HOW COOL IS THAAAAT!?

Oh, if you look at the picture above, on the right, you’ll see two small box, again, on the black strip. That’s the water cannon, chilling prettily until something happens.

Nothing beats old school song and some modern english song for Raya event.

The bazaars that I missed. Sighhh…

But it’s okay, I’ll just be back

For you know, KFC or Pizza Hut.

Thanks for photobombing, Uncle!

πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

So there you go! How d’you like Tampines now? I love it even more though I don’t know when I’m popping by again. Bahahaha.

I must say that today has been very fruitful.

Woke up for site visit, went to my tailor to alter my dress for tomorrow’s visiting (yes, living up to my middle name of ‘last minute’), spring cleaning my room – like I said, last minute queenΒ πŸ˜‚, napping and getting a hair cut! Yes, hair cut!

The only I couldn’t squeeze in is painting.Β πŸ˜ͺ

By the time I wanted to paint, it’s already midnight and this post is priority. Not to mention, gotta be up bright and early tomorrow. So no paint-paint sesh tonight.

Anywho, I hope you’ve enjoyed this lengthy post and leave this post with a little more information.

To all my muslim readers, I wish you

Selamat Hari Raya or Eid Mubarak or both, whichever you prefer, haha.

To my non-muslim readers, I hope you get a good break out of this long weekend to recharge.

πŸ’š

The thicker the better

Last night, I spot a pretty big cockroach in the room and my spidy senses just went wild.

Looked around for something heavy enough to weigh it down yet light enough for me to pick it up and throw at it with one hand.

The only thing that was within my reach was my bedtime book.

and nope. It didn’t even get near the big brown bug. I guess getting rid of cockrach isn’t one of the hundred exercises for successful living. pfft.

All that effort … sigh…

Cockroach – Me. 1 – 0.

Irregardless, I slept well that night. Just a cockroach right? Shall not lose a wink of sleep over it. bahahaha. *flips duvet*.

Then!

Earlier!

As I finished my prayers, just chilling on the prayer mat, the big brown thug made its appearance.

Not. gonna. lose. twice. No. way. Jose.

Got up faster than you can say ‘Bolt’, grabbed a new-and-yet-to-finish-reading-thick-book-and-the-magazine-on-top-of-it-in-case-the-thick-book-isn’t-thick-enough and *blows nail* the rest is history.

I’m not done reading this book yet it has served so much… sigh, you braveΒ thanggg.

πŸ’…Β πŸ’…Β πŸ’…

Don’t know how you’re feeling right now, but on this side of my world, I feel like a hero(ine).

Cockroach – Me. 1 – 1.

Yall can sleep in peace tonight. Cause tonight, there’s one less cockrach in this world. *wink*

With this heroic act, allow me to hit into slumber land. Till next post, Toodles!

Into the woods

Warning: Post is image heavy.

This post is one of my few ‘I don’t wanna post this cause I love it too much to share with others’, ‘I’m gonna delay this post for as long as I can cause it’s mine all mine and I wanna be a little selfish about it,’ or even just ‘Nope, I’m gonna print this in big size and hang it in the house/room so I can appreciate it right cause no one can appreciate this as much as I can 🀘’ category. Which is why there’s quite a bit of missing travel posts here. Hehe.

But I know I gotta share this first(!…travel posts can wait heh) cause it means a lot to me… and good things are meant to be shared.

On the 1st January, the 1st Sunday in 2017, I had a photoshoot with Ain. Which is why I thought, I should publish this post on a Sunday also. 😎 Albeit 10 Sundays later.

Cause I was bored and she wanted to take pictures of me with/in my heels.

I could just send her the pictures of my heels, really, but where’s the decency in there right? Bahahaha.Β πŸ™ˆΒ Tak senonoh!

Since it was the new year, I figured, ‘Hey! Why not try somewhere new?’

And that ‘new’ place, is non other than a forest. They called it garden but really, it’s a forest.

I’m about to let the pictures do the talking. But before I do, just wanna let you guys know that Ain put in a lot of (great) effort to make me look decent.

My favourite part of this place is this guy…

dscf3188

Running barefeet all.Β πŸ™Š So much respect.😱

dscf3189

Waitttt! Don’t leave me! Train me!

dscf3048

Close enough I guess?Β πŸ™ŠπŸ™ŠπŸ™Š

dscf3202

Phew! That was a workout guys. Bahaha

Let’s not forget… Ain’s favourite…

dscf3139

My heelsΒ πŸ˜‚

Till next post, I guess this is how girls like me would look like if we enlist in the army.Β πŸ™ˆπŸ’

Oh and, can you imagine if I were to print my face(s) and put it in my room? OMG. NIGHTMARE YALL. HAHAHA.
