Weekend Treats

I’ve been thinking of having another page where I can upload the food that I cook for my reference on days where I’m not inspired and go ‘ Whattueat today.’ While that may be neater, it is also a hassle and I rather have one centralised space for my posts.

So! If you’re like me: Live alone, can’t cook much or risk having food wastage (which I don’t approve), I shall make an effort to post them more frequently here and not preserve them in my phone.

For days where we’re not inspired but want our comfort food but there’s too many of them, you can steal my ideas be inspired (perhaps) through the new category tab: Clumsy Chef.

First post below:

———————————————————————————————————————————————————-

I’m trying to limit my dessert intakes to only weekends cause you know, I intend to live for another 200 years. Gotta make some effort. Heh.

So on Saturday, I made this Cherry White Chocolate cookie which is easy peasy. Where do I begin to tell you how easy it is? Well, we can start with, the first time I saw the recipe video, I memorised the ingredients right away. *winks*

I know it doesn’t look like much, but it’s like a party in your mouth!

Recipe here.

Then, cause I felt like I’ve indulged way too much on Saturday, I felt like snacking something savoury for a change. Google really does not help. Cause I ended up with this:

Good thing is that…. It’s vegan. So far all you vegans out there… You can make these babies! I skipped the raspberry compote and used cinnamon sugar (caster sugar + cinnamon) and lemon sugar (icing sugar + a few teaspoon of lemon zest) instead.

Doesn’t get any easier!

Recipe here.

Hope you’ve had a good weekend!

Floor Mask

You know that one day where you’re too lazy to pick things off the floor come what may.

One fine day, as I was about to make brunch, an egg slipped off my fingers and humpty dumpty had a great a fall. All of my horses and all of my knight couldn’t put Humpty together again.

So, since a mess has been created, I had to step in.

First thing first is to analyse the situation.

Premise 1: It’s my lazy day – there’s absolute no motivation to bend down and clear up the mess.

Premise 2: Hey! Let’s take this opportunity and make an experiment!

Eggs are proven to be a good face mask. So, out of boredom (and laziness), I wondered, ‘What if, I give my floor that benefit as well?’

I mean, there are so many expensive flooring detergent claiming to leave your floor clean and shiny after a few use. Besides, won’t the egg dry out and I could just peel it off it one go? It’ll be way easier than using few kitchen towels and floor wipes and whatnots to clear a wet raw egg.

Experiment operation: Go!

Yup. Didn’t even bother picking up the shell.

Laziness level: Asian.

Turns out, it is actually more difficult to clear dried raw egg and it does not come off in one peel like a face mask. I had to use a spatula to scrape the hardened bits.

So, moral of the story… wet raw egg is easier to clean.

You’re welcome. *flips spatula*

Funny how that spot got a little shinier than before. Maybe I should use raw eggs as floor cleaning agent.

Hehe.

Wake us up

The difference living in a four season and non four season country (as a muslim at least) is the prayer times.

Back in SG, the timing is pretty much stable. It stays the same for a few days before changing 1 or 2 minutes earlier/later. What I used to do was, look at the timing and go, ‘Ok, this whole week, I can do this prayer at this timing. Next week, this timing.’

I tried to do the same here but it does not workkkk. Sometimes in a matter of days, the timing can vary by quite a bit.

Spring

image

The struggle, is real.

Fajr: 2.30ish am
Isya: 11ish pm onwards.

Winter

Fajr: 6.20-8.30ish am
Isya: latest is 6 pm onwards.

Winter/early spring challenge is the cold.

Spring/Autumn challenge is the earlyness of fajr cause I’m totally not a morning person. I’ve tried being a morning person for a period of time, but then I’ll just give it up and go, ‘Naaa… I’m staying true to myself. Embrace the night person that I am.’ *drama* Heh.

Turns out, my friends have the same problem as me. (Thanks for making me not feel alone guys.)

While the day has started for the peeps in Aussie, the majority population in uk is asleep and vice versa.

What we resort to is using our time difference to everyone’s advantage.

With that… OZ gal went to bed while I carry on with my life watching an old KDrama. Nothing fancy.

Then, at 3.31am SG time, paused the drama and rang Syaf. It was quite good to hear your morning voice! Like a lion’s bawl. Haha *shuts ears and covers face*

Shortly after that…

image

Like hello, woman, I rang you at 3.31. Even gave you that 1 minute grace. What talking you sister?

image

She tried calculating our time difference and getting it all mixed up. I told her to just go to bed and stop messing with maths early in the morning.

Stubborn woman is stubborn.

image

I was telling her that the time difference between Melbourne and Singapore is two hours. Our conversation then went on to the different time zones in Australia.

My cousins in Perth are in the same timezone as Singapore (not too sure about Winter tho). Ergo time difference between the different cities in the same country exist!

After telling her that….

image

Clearly. The side effects of trying to deduce things in the morning doesn’t work out well.

In the end, she can’t keep up with technology.

image

Hands up if you have a friend who don’t know that timezone they’re living in!

Sighhh.
I need new friends.
