Throughout the years, I’ve met so many people, many of whom I call friends or acquaintance. I use to think that having lots of friends and being invited to parties makes you the cool kids. But then you just get tired of keeping up with them (oh the dramas!). That’s when I realise that having a small circle of friends means more to me. I get to be comfortable and be all me without having to be prim or proper cause these people have seen me pre pubescent and now, post pubescent. Heh.

I come from a big family and when it comes to main gathering, we usually book the entire venue. I’ll be the one asking my cousin, ‘How many people are there in this place?’ She’ll go, ‘300ish maybe’. It’s not even full attendance!

Having seen what a group of 300 people looks like, I always ask myself, ‘Do I know at least 300 people? sans family of course.’ 5 minutes later, I’ll close my mind discussion with a simple no. Khalassss.

I am but a human. I may be wrong.

Turns out, I do know more than 300 people. Followers count on instagram don’t tell no lie, girlfriend.

Like I mentioned earlier, I like my social circle small. I like my privacy but at the same time I like to know more people.

I tend to ‘follow’ or ‘request follow’ on instagrammers who are friends of friends who I think are nice people. Y’know, keep my timeline positive.

I get happy when they accept my ‘request’ even though they don’t know me.

But! I have trouble doing the same thing. I remember having few hundreds of followers and cause I wanna make my circle smaller, I will delete them off when I see that we’re not communicating or liking each others post. Sometimes these people don’t even update their ig! So what’s the point of having them on board kan???

I’ll usually set a nice number, lower than the existing number of followers and scroll down the list to pick a person to delete off. Haha. The kind of things that I do in life 🙈

However, nowadays, when the people that’s accepted me as their followers, request on my page, I get all stressed up! should I. should I not. should I. should I not.

I find it rude to not accept their request but at the same time I have no other people to delete off! hahaha. The people that I gravitate to follow are those who I think are MasyaAllah and they are those I think will be able to help me be a better person, doesn’t matter akhlak or adab wise, or they have nice bags and shoes! hehe. After all, a picture speaks a thousand words.

For this, I know I’m not better nor can I contribute to bring any positivity in their timeline.

So I’ll go ‘why you request to follow meeee? I have nothing to show youuu. Why can’t you just let me learn from youuu’.

It was a nice 100 after so long and I just had to accept the ‘2’ cause they’re a good friend to my good friend.

But trust me! Before approving the 2, I scroll down the followers list to delete 2 people off but was in vain.

For everything we do in life, we’ll be questioned on the day of judgement. The posts we upload and the pictures we like. The tweets we send out and our niat (nawaitu). Having people I really know following me means that we’ve met, interact and know what they are capable of. So I know that I don’t judge them for the things they have in life because there is more to a character than a post.

This is (probably) a part of my whimsical self which I have more to share, perhaps.

But you! Do you easily accept people’s request? Is your profile public? If it is, why is not private? How are you cool enough to let people you don’t know have a glimpse of your life? Are you those who follow those who only follow you? If you’re one of those who have thousands of followers, aren’t you scared or pressured to post images as freely as you want without thinking twice?

I wanna wanna wanna know, cause in the field I’m working in, publicity is important. However amidst all those, I like to retain my privacy.

Here’s a start to another weekend, alhamdulillah. I hope you have a good break with your loved ones.

Till next post, may peace be upon you!

Ohana Jr

Today is a dear diary day.

5am. My phone beeped and…

Later in the afternoon,

We’ve got  junior amongst us now!

Today, someone’s status has been changed to a mother, alhamdulillah 🙂

Source: Google

Blessed is one who still has a mother as her dua/prayer is accepted by Him.  If you still have a mother, never ever take her for granted.

Taken back in 2012. How time flies! b

Felt like last week you guys were trippin on the ice-rink and now 3 of you are married and 1 is a mother!

Ps: I heard that new moms don’t get enough sleep! So, we should have as many babysitting gathering while you get your sleep.

Gawdd… I wanna.

go and

my way back to SG PRONTO!

Learning Skills

Assalamualaikum y’alls.

Just got back from my study trip safely last Friday and while I’m on the topic of photography – with reference to my previous post – I wanna say that Indriana was right!

I never went auto mode with the DSLR (except when I was with the digicam).

My dad nagged a little when I told him I’ll be off for France.

He went all, “merayap je” on me. Haha.

Where got dadddd…. I’ve only been to Munich since I got here till this study trip.

Anywho! While we were in Paris, we stayed in an apartment which is so beautiful but is poorly lit. The ambiance and lighting was more of a “hidup segan, mati tak mau” kind. All it needs is more white lighting and a better TV Cable connection and I’d give it a 9/10.

As usual, the girls get the bigger room with bigger bathroom which I love! The downside was the poor lighting.

I was trying to take an interior shot of the bathroom with my phone which turns out like this:

I went, TIDAAAKKKK!!! (NOOO!!). I knew that if I didn’t take proper photo of this bathroom, no business is pleasure! So! I immediately took the DSLR, tweaked the setting and voila!

It’s a amazing how these 3 photo pleases me. Haha. Puts my mind to ease that I get to capture how I see things.

See dad! I didn’t merayap for nothing.

Warning: Post is long and image heavy. :b

It was a (probably) gloomy autumn day when I was scrolling my instagram feed and I stumble upon this:

I knew Indriana few years back when my cousin ordered her salted caramel cupcakes and pavlova. They are oh so good!

You can read em here. Note: Perangai buruk facial expression looming ahead.

Anyway! I immediately Whatsapped Indriana and asked if I could join her. I’ve always wanted to take a photography course cause it’s kinda vital to my course.

Honestly, I was more excited to be in the company of the girls then the photography course itself. Hehe. I just miss being around people with same background as me and this trip turns out to be hella fun! I get to meet and make new friends and learn a thing or two. I guess this is the appropriate time to use the phrase killing two birds with one stone. Oh trust me, I killed so many birds with that one stone.

I was skeptical initially as the course started few days earlier and I can’t join them on their schedule as I had portfolio submission. But Indriana, as kind and cool as always, welcomed me anyway. Thank you babe!

One morning,

I: Aqilah, we’ll get started on your lesson soon k.

Me: Okies

Half an hour later.

I: *straightening her hair*

Me: Should we start now?

I: Ah, I settle my hair first can? *One hand on fringe. One on hair straightener*

*Both burst into laughter*

Me: Sure thang.

I mean, it was gonna be as easy as her guiding me verbally while I try to practice it physically, non?

We end up having the lesson on bed. Super lepak style. My kinda thing.

I remember her saying this, “Basically, you’ll learn to play with the ISO, aperture and shutter speed using the Manual mode so you’ll never (nevvvaaahhh) have to use the auto mode anymore.”

At the back of my mind I went, ‘Yeah right. If that is even possible.’

Don’t get me wrong. I’m not skeptical about her teaching skill. I was very skeptical of my learning ability.

This kind of thing, basically, wa tak confident y’know? My learning curve for these kind of thing is very gentle.

I may not take the most beautiful, ok wait, let me rephrase that. I don’t take the most beautiful picture as most people out there, or even between us gals, but I really learn a lot during the 5 days.

If this isn’t fun, I don’t know what is. (Reposting this video cause this is what awesomeness looks like, to me at least :))

Here’s the BTS:

If I’m not mistaken, this was by Munich Residenz (formal Royal Palace). It was quite empty and we started and when we were dancing and blasting One Direction, more people started streaming. *Tebalkan muka! Tebalkan muka!* Most of them just smiled and passed by. Some started doing the same. There were two Spanish ladies who came up to us and asked us to record them doing Flamenco Dance.

Note: Pictures are not edited, cause I’m lazy *grins* :b

While we were in the middle of doing the video, we were stopped by a group of Russian girls (not Mafias, too much criminal series Aqilah! *smacks head*) They needed to take a video – for a project, if I’m not mistaken – and we were more than happy to assist. We were told to sing a song, any song and we ended up singing either Westlife or Backstreet Boys. Hey! It’s a song that most of us would know! Bieber who?

Commemorative photo satu!

Then! While Putri wanted to stitch the video together, she realise that I wasn’t in it. I didn’t know I was suppose to be in it. Haha. *Bimbo moment* I was happily taking turns carrying the girls bag while they were dancing/throwing balls and too engrossed enjoying the moment that I turned blonde for seminit >.<

So because of that, they came back (it was my first time there) to Olympia Park for their individual project and shoot other few scenes here.

BMW Tower seen nearby.

Itu dia…. Chong dah mari pegang kopi. Heh

IMG_5257 IMG_5253

I really really really need to edit these two pics. *Lazzzyyy*

Ini lagi satu. But, hmm… whatever la eh. Haha.

If I’m not mistaken: Olympia park is basically a student accommodation area.

Definitely a place I wouldn’t mind residing if I studied here. Hehe. It has whimsical bright painting and probably cause I love colours too! (as you can from the video) which kinda brighten the place. 🙂

Some unrelated photos:

This girl started twirling and singing as we were taking videos. The One Direction background music must’ve brought out the groove in her. Can’t blame her can we?

Later that day after shopping, while waiting for the rest, we did a short video clip in a cafe. We tried our best to not attract attention but 4 girls doing same hand motion with a videographer in front isn’t exactly the dictionary definition of discrete.

Like they say, all good things must come to an end. So does this trip. My time spent there was amazeballs.

I couldn’t ask for more. Every one of them has different colour of personality and in a ‘no judging, go ahead and be yourself zone’ we clicked well and (I’m gonna say this again) had a helluvafun.

Till we meet again, soon, Insyaa Allah, may you guys be safe, always 🙂

P.s: Indriana will be having another Soul Searching_Photography workshop Session and if you’re keen, who isn’t? Go and beep her!

My Opinion? Couldn’t be a better time! England is gonna be so comfortable and beautiful in Spring.

I might be joining again. Hehe. Gotta see if I can squeeze some time to join. But you! You should join her and get Indrianafied.

You can view more of her works here.

I know, I know. You’re welcome!

Day Snow

Finally! It snows during the day!

All this while it’s been snowing at night and it was hard to capture due to poor lighting and I didn’t think much of the DSLR on my study table. Heh

I finished bathing and looked out the window, nothing. I went to take my wudhu, came out of the toilet, there it is. It was quite heavy that day and I was sooo excited that I went pray first or play with snow first!? PRAY FIRST OR PLAY FIRST!!?? Mann…that was a tough decision. After praying I called my friend to come down to the courtyard and play snow with me. 😝

The I-don’t-care wardrobe assemble. PJ pants also can la. Colour clash also clash laaa…. 😎🙈

While waiting for the woman to come down, it no longer snows heavily. My heart sank a little but look what I made?

Okay. Its not vertical. But give chance ah.. Made it with my bare hands and perseverance. How did I do?

After a while, we part ways to our individual flat. Shoooortly after I reached home, it started snowing heavily again. Iiissshhhh…. So I said to Him, silently, please let it still snow when I’m on my way to site visit later. Please please pleeeaaasssseee Godddd… Didn’t happen of course.

Love the contrast of snow against the sun 🙂

While everyone stays on the pavement, look who’s the hero.

Me of course! Heh.

One in site boots, here’s one in normal boots.
