Penny University

Assalamualaikum errbbaaddeehhh!!!

🙂

Last Saturday morning, my cousins and I head to Penny University for breakfast. All of us wanted to try the cupcakes that everybody was raving about. Particularly, the nutella rvc and salted caramel.

On the way there, around 0945, one of my cousin was panicking as she was afraid that the cupcakes would be sold out. I was like… Oh come on, its only almost 10. The cupcakes won’t be sold thaaaatt fast. (the shop opens at 0830 by the way).

True enough, when we were ordering, the last four rvc has been snapped up. Yes, it was thaat fast. Luckily, the salted caramel cuppies were still there.

What’s left of the salted caramel cupcake 2 hrs after the opening hour.

You see…. In that tiny box, someone have snapped up the last kopek of the nutella rvc. Well, too bad for my cousins.

Me? Big fan of cake!! Not rvc or nutella though… Heh

Loving the vintage “cash register”.

My breakfast.

Le cousin’s brekkie…

Our “appetizers”

Prefer the lemon meringue as oppose to the chocolate. The lemon meringue has a very rich lemon taste… To the max. The chocolate, has this, smoke bacon taste… Not to sure if its baked with another food containing bacon in the same oven or its intentionally done that way. Nevertheless, I like it! Haha, weirdly.

image

Pastries. The setting reminds me back in Italy when we’re at bakery…  Pheeling Pheelings ya knowww

Can’t remember what my breakfast food is called. It’s basically toasted bread with cheese, marmite and poached egg with side veges.

The portion made me go… That’s it? That’s the portion you serve to a cow??

But nooooooo….. T’was filling mann… But I just thought that it’ll taste better without the marmite. Find it too salty for my liking but, something different, thumbs up.

Up next, our dessert…

Salted caramel cupcake.

Unfortunately, this experience didn’t go down well. You see, we ordered 6. 4 to dine in and 2 to go. Apparently, when we ordered, they didn’t set the cupcakes immediately. So, before serving us, they sold and serve some of their cupcakes. Of course, we were upset and complaint to the staff’s there. They did give us lemon meringue on the house to compensate but… Damage done. And we’re cool about it… 🙂

The salted caramel cupcake was nice. Just nice. I guess, my cousins and I had our hopes pinned up too high which leads to disappointment. There’s nothing fantastic about the cupcake. Love the creme topping though. The cake density, caramel and size was a bit out for us. We find them a little too small and the caramel didn’t match our tastebud. We can’t comprehend people’s rave about it.

I’m blaming Indriana Irawan for setting our Salted Caramel Cupcake standard. Hers is nicer, in my humble opinion. It was bigger and cheaper, numero uno. The density was more moist yet soft, the caramel was just nice…. Not too much, not too little….

This, coming from someone who don’t favour caramel that much.

Overall I’d say it wasn’t a good experience. The food was ok… So-so. The ambience…. I like the setting…. It’s different.. has a warm and rustic pheel to it… Oh, and, I find it a liiitle pricey. I guess, anything for food. You gotta give it a shot man ….. ;b

Fret not dear comrades, my taste bud and yours may be, different. Just like how beauty lies in the eye of the beholder. Tastes of food and drink, lies on the tongue and in the mouth of the eater…. (chehh…step cool sakkk).

If you have no plans, drop by Penny University. You can find them on facebook for address and directions. Be there early, like…. Err…. Super early. Or else, all you’ll probably get is their coffee… ;b

It’s not halal certified because the owner is a Muslim. The meat use is from Zack. Which is Halal. And they don’t serve alcohol. So, no was-was (doubt) from me…

😉

Whoever said that money can’t buy happiness obviously haven’t found the right store

Assalamualaikum all!

*sigh* I’m so shagged right now….Just came back shopping with le momma at town. It’s funny how I’ve gotten super duper trooper lazy to go shopping there after having 3 months of internship at town. It’s like I don’t even wanna think about there. I used to lovveeee there! It’s like every girl’s shopping heaven.

*eons ago shopping drama scene*
‘Mom, this bag pleaseeee. I did well for my exams’
‘Mom, this shoe please, its on discount’
‘Mom this bagggg…Gawwddd….It’s limited edition.’
‘Really ma? Who goes to ___ on 30% discount and juuuusssttt buy wallet?? *facepalm*’
‘Mom…I ran out of powder. I need to buy more.’
‘Mom, I ran out of facial wash. Juuuust facial wash, I promise’

*At cosmetic counter*
Me: Hi, I’d like to get this facial wash. Err ma, I ran out of emulsion. And err, that pimple cream too. And this and that….
Lady: Miss, we’re having a promotion. Spend xxx and get free gift.
Mom: You ahhhh….. Hurry up top up whatever items…To get the free gift.
Hehehehe *wins*

But that was then. I’m sooo lazy nowadays. What.Is.Wrong.With.Me!!??

Now, when I say I want facial wash. I skip the promotion and grab just my facial wash… Hehe. Oops, I hear moms credit card heave a sigh of relief.

Today has been meaningfully (got such word meh? – is there such word?) dramatic. Had breakfast at Penny University with the cousins. Which I shall blog about that later. And then met mom for shopping cause I really need my essentials. I mean, I can buy them but, long story short, my allowance has not been transferred. Nevertheless, got to use her money…. Hehehehe….*evil smirk*blows nail*

I guess, I’m more matured too tired to give a damn to think whether I want this or not nowadays that shopping today is like, grab and go!

image

See! I bought  juuuuuust my facial wash. Somebody gotta pat my shoulder man. *patsmyownshoulderfornow*

Lunch at Pepes.

I mean, come on, girls always come with excess baggage, no? Pfft…

Freaking fried chicken that costs $13.50 and tastes no gook (no good) than my maid’s. Seriously man, is this a golden chicken or did this particular chicken drop from heaven!!??

image

Kinokuniya cause I’ve been searching for architecture books on Jewish Museum (Berlin) since… June… Warrrgghhh….

image

aaaand, I found it!!!

My mom was surprised when I grabbed two books. Usually, I’ll flip books and grab em, grab em, grab and grab and grab – like 15 books – till she’s gotta stop me, or more *giggles*. And her credit card of course, from wailing…. Again…someone pleaseeeee…. Pat my shoulder….

Sigh…I’m such a good girl nowadays.

Hmm… I think I deserve another bag :b

Someone get me a polka dot plastic bag pleaseeee… :b

And last but not least. My favourite items (FAVOURITE AHHHHH!!!) out of today’s purchase…

Holiday Drama

Assalamualaikum everybaddeh!

Holiday is the season of catching up with Tv Series, Dramas, Movies and more….right? Well, That’s for me… Heh…*flips hair*

I was on a marathon on catching up with so many Tv programme’s that I told my friend it’s like chasing for a submission. Finish all those series before school reopens.

I’m a big fan of Korean Drama for years… Yes, you can categorize me as one of those people. ;b

Withing this short time frame, I manage to finish 1, 2, 3 dramas. *pats head*

1: Moon that Embraces the Sun.

2: Faith

3: A Gentleman’s Dignity(AGD)

At first I was like, ‘My godd….Which drama to start first?’ ‘Should I go and buy the DVD’ ‘Should I just watch from whatever that I already have?’ ‘But I wanna watch something new’

I’m not a big fan on watching dramas online… anything online as a matter of fact. Cause, let’s just say my room is at one end and the modem and wireless router is at the other end of the house. With weak connection, it annoys and pisses me to the max when video stops to buffer half way. Hence, I always buy the DVDs… *peace* 🙂

But, I’ve found a new strategy and manage to start my first drama… Moon That Embraces The Sun. Why that? Ahhhh…. Cause, While I was watching Running Man, it so happened that the guest was Kim Soo Hyun… and before that was Han Ga In. So, I was wondering, what’s the big hype of this drama. Save to say… It’s one of the best historical drama that I’ve watched. Surprisingly also, in this drama, the King, is young. I guess, that’s also one of the many factors why the drama was a big hit! Hehehe… All the nunas and ahjummas would drool at him… Me? Oh, I just stare at Han Ga In’s face all the time.. She’s soooo pretty….. I fell in love with her ever since Witch Yoo Hee. 🙂

This drama had everything! Sense of humor that matches that era and now. Casts that are pleasant looking. OSTs that are ear pleasing. Long story short, balance of Yin and Yang….

While watching Moon that Embraces the Sun, this advertisement keep popping out, and I kept seeing Lee Min Ho and red head Kim Hee Sun. I had no intention of watching Faith but after Moon that Embraces the Sun, I just wanted to watch something action pack  since the ending of the first drama was filled with awesome actions… though Jung Il Woo died… Mehhh…

So, I just decided to give Faith a shot and it was awesome… Not so much of the story pace…. But the actions and story line. It can get a bit draggy at some point. But, I just couldn’t tank the Gi Chul character… the way it was being portrayed. I felt I was watching those old old old old old Chinese historical drama where the voice are dubbed and the characters could fly….

After Faith and googling and Wikipedia-ing, I stumbled upon ‘We Got Married’ Variety show KangYoon couple. As I’ve watched Yoon Se Ah act along Cha Seung Won in City Hall and ‘what’s so cool about Im Tae San’ in  AGD, I clicked and watched in. Nuff said, it was one of the best drama with sense of humour. It is something different. It’s like watching Boys over Flowers, just that the boys are Forty years old. This drama sense of humor is second to none. I was laughing, cringing about to die… all the way….

Lemme share with you snippets of the funny moment.1la

This was them showing their lovey dovey side of themselves at each other, which startle the supermarket lady at the background.

2la

Preventing one of their friend’s divorce.

3la

Naming car at Forty one and introducing it to his girlfriend. Heh.

4la

This is one of the super funny scene…*phails*laugh*

5la 5lab

One of their stressful moment…Turning to cooking…which, didn’t turn out well. Haha.

6la

Another super duper funny scene. Again, one of the friend is in trouble with his wife and this is one of his measure.

7la

“Helping” your friend’s sister.

13la

This one… Haha… I had a good laugh. Can you imagine… an architect… with no visual dexterity… Ok, I’m sorry. #Architectjoke101

I love this drama…. My gosh… It’s totally something new and different. It’s kinda real in the sense that these are the probable situation happening to single and successful men. The sense of friendship really moves me…Not to tears… Haha… I, don’t cry for drama. Really. Well, a little in Stairway to Heaven. I mean, come on, I’m not a human if I don’t spill a tear or two right… Hehehe

Anyways, if you’re bored and looking for things to watch, I recommend AGD, firstly. Moon that Embraces the Sun followed by Faith… And yeah,

You’re Welcome…

*peace finger*

🙂

(P.s: Sorry for the pics sizes. Click on them to see better…Have a gooooood laugh!)

Paintball.

Assalamualaikum errbbaaadddehhh….

After the last day of our ‘camp ukhuwwah’ 4 of us had Ar-Raudhah paintball tournament. We had no idea that the day would coincide with the last day of our camp. Like….seriously…. Who would purposeful do that right? Everyone is expected to be shagged at the end of every camp… But, nonetheless, there we were, putting our lives at risks. Cheyy….like real only uh… There we were, representing Fatayat MKS….

There were 3 groups of ladies….and the rest were…well… Pfft… Boys. Haha…I thought it would be an all-ladies tournament. Wishful thinking there, Aqilah. Wishful. But no…

Before our first ever game, which was… Like… More than half an hour after it officially starts, we had lunch. And oh goddd….. I had a nervous/mental breakdown. All jittery. Blaming the adrenaline here. I could feel the adrenaline pumping. The anxiety… It got worst when my stomach starts to twist and turn … I felt like puking…. Oh gawdd, I can pheel it now…

But
.
.
.
.

Yeah buddy, I.managed to sick it up… Hahaha..

Our first match was a little dramatic.

We went to the toilet to ‘keep calm’ ourselves. Not realising that its our turn… On our way to the, what I would call “battlefield”, we received a call and ran with our might there. There, we were told that if we were later than 2 minutes, we would be disqualified for the first round….

So, the first match, I got killed first… Yupp… I see what you just did… No surprises there.. hahaha….

Oh, just to burst your bubble, we lost all game…. Haha…

Subsequent game, no drama.

It was interesting to see other team play. Some came in all their sponge wear… Their own mask and stuff. Honestly, we were intimidated. One of us just went, ‘Aqilah, if I panic, please shoot me’ hahaha.. thank god, we didn’t have to resort to such measures.  With a maximum of 4 heads per group, some of them signed up as few groups. While the other group is in the battlefield, the ones outside would direct them.

Our last game… Was our worst nightmare coming true. Our opponent was one of le big boys… All suit up in their padded wear and mask. Making me go, pfft, ‘paintball where got fun if no pain’ take a straw, suck it up and be a man, taking the bullet pellet. But of course, thats the devil in me la. The angel in me went, ‘Sighh…they’re so lucky to have time to have paintball as their hobby’… Have all those suits and stuff.

When we passed by them to get to our area, they said, ‘good luck, all the best. We’ll shoot slowly’ *meeeeppp* pause there…. How in the world do you shoot people slowly??!! So I said, “how are you going to shoot is slowly when once you pull the trigger, the pellet will fly not according to your command?” Imagine this, *le me talking to bullet pellet*‘dear, travel slowly k’ it doesn’t make sense right? Hahaha….

Because they were our opponent, we had to change our ‘self-victory requirement’. We know the probability of winning is 0. The ‘requirement’ was … Last for 1 minute… Aaaannnnndddd, we did… Hahaha… 1min and xx secs *pats shoulder* that was victory man… Haha… In the end, we grabbed our bags, to go home cause we were juuussssttt, exhausted….

image

When we first arrived. Alllll ready to lose. Our first group photo.

image

Preparing to enter the ‘battlefield.’ We’re girls for a reason by the way…. We’re good at multi-tasking… :b

image

Other group’s battle.

image

The group of ‘spectators’.

image

image

Losing our sanity for a moment.

image

image

Apparently the 3rd group we had matched with were a group of Karl Lagerfeld prodigy… They weren’t happy with my Dian Pelangi tie-dye shawl… Soo, they added more dyes. Thanksss kawansss….

image

Relieving our anxiety with our smartphones. Sighhh… 21st century…

image

Once again, in search for our sanity, in the ladies…. *flips hair*

image

Last group photo with the kind lady who helped us even to the extent of wiping our painted mask… Thank you!!!

A day filled with so much emotion…. Was that day. I would comeback again, most definitely, but for a friendly match with my cousins or friends….

For now, I have other places to break a leg at….

Ukhuwwah Fillah the Finale

Soooo…..

Assalamualaikum semua….

The last part of the camp….
After our activity last night, we went to bed quite early as we were suppose to have qiyam or qiyamulail at 4.30am… Qiyam means to wake up at night and pray…  *oh my god. I’m hungry as I’m typing this* … We were suppose to wake up around 3.45, wash up, wake the kids but…..if you notice, I said “suppose to have qiyam at 4.30 am” haha… You could’ve guess by now…. We woke up at 4.30!! I was surprise to see our mentor entering our sleeping room as I went out to wash up… I won’t be surprise if she’s surprise at us still sleeping… We must’ve been shagged…

After qiyam, we went straight to the musollah for our congregation fajr prayer…

After which, we would take a morning walk to east coast park…

We’re busy having illegal gathering… Don’t you know? At night… We’re road thugs… Haha… Kidding… We were busy calculating the group scores…

image

I will miss this people…. Greatly…. They constantly put smile around each others face… This camp thought me a lot. Most importantly, the kids benefitted the most. ALHAMDULILLAHHHH…. Our objective is met!!

In Arabic, syafakillah means, get well soon… Pfftt… Who needs to be sick when you can have….

image

Shaf(A)qilah with you

…. Anyways…. Happy birthday baby!!! May you be a Muslimah that is always protected by Our Creator. Bless with happiness and health. May you be shaded by His mercy on yawmul qiyamah… I lubbsss you…mannyyy mannyyy…

This camp. These kids. These sisters. They thought me a great deal of lesson. Everyone of us have different story. How we learn more about Allah. What our old self was. And despite that all, we throw our selfishness aside and work together because we know that we need each other, to grow 🙂

Sighhh…. I miss them already…;)
